My name is Andrea Gray Harper and I make events!
For as long as I can remember I have been an organizer and planner. As the only-child in a single parent home, I could often be found entertaining myself by color coordinating my closet. I dreamed of large family get-togethers and continue to be the one to organize brunches and cocktail parties for friends and family alike. Having earned both a Bachelors and Masters degree in Textile Design with a focus on conceptual installation art and transforming spaces through color and pattern, it’s safe to say that I bring that experience and knowledge into each event space I design. I coined the term, “event maker” because I love making all the decor and details that encompass an exciting and original event. Almost every detail you see at a GHEM event is hand created by myself or someone on my team. We sew, saw, cut, glue, string, dye, nail, paint, tape, and craft it all!
From intimate elopements set under a beautiful Live Oak tree, to huge parties on the lawn of an old Southern plantation, I have seen and love them all. I strive to combine beautiful design together with my attention to detail and organizational skills so that you can focus on what’s important, marrying your best friend and having fun! On the day of your event I will be the first one to arrive and the last one to leave so you can rest assured that every detail will be take care of. Weddings don’t need to be stuffy or stressful, and it’s my job to make sure everything comes together perfectly. I take pride in getting to know my clients and truly enjoy the process of putting each of their events together, step by step and vendor by vendor.
My passion for floral design began way back when I was around the age of twelve. I have always loved flowers, but it was around that time that a local florist in my neighborhood paid me $5.00 to take her trash out at the end of each day. Eventually I made my way into the floral shop, assisting with flower prep and clean up. I remember loving the the sweet smell that came from opening a new box of garden roses and how alive and busy the shop became in the days leading up to Valentine’s day. Today I am still just as excited about opening a box of fresh flowers and I truly love working closely with each and every bride to create a one-of-a-kind bouquet for her big day.
A Southerner at heart, I was born in Atlanta, Georgia and raised in Miami, Florida. I now live in Savannah, Georgia with my handsome Canadian husband, our sweet black cat, Frank, and our super sweet lab mix, Georgia. GHEM is a boutique business that only takes on a limited number of events each season to ensure quality service. I am based out of Coastal Georgia but do welcome the opportunity to travel for events.
